Year 12 is one of the most crucial years of a student’s schooling life — a time to bond with their life-long friends, navigate their way through the pressures of VCE exams and anticipate the big graduation ceremony. However, the unexpected happened and life had its own plans. Listen to this interview with our school captains in which they share their views on e-learning, outlook on life in the current pandemic and ways they have supported each other to cope and see the blessings in what Allah SWT has decreed.
Thank you to the Head of Extra-Curricular Activities Huda Hayek together with her team for training and overseeing projects with SRC’s and our school captains.

Here are the Eid Al-Adha messages to Victoria’s Islamic community from Premier Dan Andrews, Multicultural Affairs minister Ros Spence MP and Islamic community leaders. We are grateful to the Premier and Minister for taking the time to support our community in this difficult year, and we join with them in urging everyone to celebrate Eid with our immediate families, avoid gatherings where the coronavirus can spread, maintain social distancing of at least 1.5 metres between us and another person, and always wear a mask or facial covering outside our homes.
Please stay safe, stay well and celebrate Eid responsibly.
Eid Mubarak!

On the eve of Eid Al-Adha, we have just received this very warm and generous message from the Board Of Imams Victoria.
The Imams reassure us that while we are facing big challenges as a College community due to Covid-19, we have never been alone. We have the love of Allah (swt), and the love and prayers of our families, friends and other loved ones to sustain us.
On behalf of Al-Taqwa College, I warmly thank the Board of Imams for remembering us and inspiring us with their words at this sacred time, and again wish you Eid Mubarak.

Dear Al-Taqwa students, parents and families,
Earlier this week I wrote to you setting out our current plans to return to face-to-face learning at the College later in Term 3.
You may remember that when we returned to face-to-face learning in Term 2, the College provided a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet about how we would implement Covid-19 protection protocols to protect you and our staff while at school. These protocols will continue but also they will need to reflect the latest Victorian Government rules and expert advice from the Chief Health Officer and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Before staff and students return to the College campuses, I want to advised you that we are revising and updating our Covid-19 protocols, and we will be providing students and parents with a new FAQ sheet for Term 3.
Kind regards,
Omar Hallak

Here is a link to a story on the ABC’s 7.30 television program last night about how the coronavirus has affected our College community.
I was very grateful for the very fair way Al-Taqwa College was treated in the television story, and we at the College thank the students and parents who were interviewed for their generous and positive comments.
This is a difficult time for all of us. But we as a College community have a very positive story to tell, and we can be gladdened and encouraged by the outpourings of love and support from not only our families and friends but across the wider community too. All of us can be proud of what we have done, and are doing, to protect those in our care from the coronavirus, and we will continue to do everything in our power to keep you and our community safe and healthy.
Thank you all for your prayers and support.
