VCAL Joins the Wyndham VET Cluster

It is with great pleasure that Al-Taqwa College has been invited to join the Wyndham VET cluster from 2018 onwards. Previously our VCAL students were completing their VET subjects in external  TAFE Colleges such as Kangan, Victoria University and the Gordon. These locations were scattered across Melbourne and offered full rate fees which pushed the costs of the course fees up. The VET subject is a compulsory part of the VCAL program in Victoria. Al-Taqwa has worked extremely hard in giving our students the best chance of succeeding, with the best facilities at more affordable prices.

The Wyndham VET cluster offers state of the art facilities in 17 different schools in the Wyndham region with subsidised course fees, making it cheaper! Al-Taqwa College will be the 17th school to partner with the cluster, maximising student options for selecting VET when enrolled into the Year 11 and 12 VCAL Program. What this means if you area VCAL student:

  • VET fees will be up to a third cheaper compared to the 2017 fees.
  • Closer locations of VETis.
  • Included bus services (pick up and drop from Al-Taqwa every Wednesday).
  • Less travel time.
  • News trade centres.

Al-Taqwa College has just recently introduced VCAL in 2014, making a promising start as a provider. In a short period of time the course has attracted the interest of students and teachers forming tight partnerships with various professional organisations in the wider community. Included in this are the partnerships with high quality VET providers such as Kangan TAFE and Victoria University, providing the students with the right environment and skills to meet the ‘Real-World’ in any career they pursue.

The VCAL course is delivered over 3 levels: Foundation (Year 10), Intermediate (Year 11) and Senior (Year 12). The students are at school 3 days a week, 1 day at TAFE and 1 day in a work placement.

Career Pathways

The VCAL course provides students with the relevant career path they require. It combines 3 learning strands, secondary college education, VET and the workplace. All students develop individual learning plans and are able to explore pathways into higher education. Most of all, they gain the relevant work experience and qualifications they need to start off in the ‘Real-World’.
