Holy Month of Ramadan
Each year the College is excited and proud to celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan. This year we have the Ramadan Big Book. Our classrooms choose a topic and provide a report or narrative which is presented and judged by our Arabic, Quran and Islamic Department.
The most favourite Ramadan activity we have is decorating the classrooms, hallways and the school in general. Our staff and students are extremely creative and enjoy decorating to celebrate Ramadan for all to see.
From 30 May to 9 June we will be holding the Aligator Book Fair in the library. There will be books, toys and general gifts for students to purchase. Each class will be taken to the library and have time to purchase items. The Fair will also be open during recess, lunch times and after school.
Non-perishable food items will be collected from staff students and families wishing to donate. All items collected will be distributed to organisations who work with those in need and deliver the food. The students will participate in being selfless and generous as encouraged in Islam. This activity also enhances their empathy towards those who are in need and unable to afford basic staple foods. Students will develop an appreciation of the many blessings we have been bestowed with, Alhamdulillah. We are always trying to encourage students to be more sympathetic and understanding towards their fellow brothers and sisters who are less fortunate, and Alhamdulillah we have a very generous school community who love participating in this project. This Ramadan activity coincides with the value of Doing Your Best.
Ramadan Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony welcomes the Holy month to the College. Students learn the Ramadan Nasheed which is sung at the ceremony as well as making lanterns this year.
Daily Quiz
Each school day during Ramadan a questions is given to the students over the PA system. Students give their answers and the student with the most correct answers wins the overall quiz.
Teachers Family Feud – Ramadan Edition
Our Islamic Department have been working hard developing questions for our teachers during Family Feud. Groups are formed with at least four participants within their year levels. This activity is for our teaching staff only, which is a fun way in developing healthy working relationships.
RCH Fundraising
Each year the College raises funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital. There will be the usual sporting tournaments to raise the money. Parents wish to donate outside of this activity are encouraged to do so. A select group of students are chosen to hand deliver the cheque to the Hospital during August. If you can, please support this incredibly important cause. Over the past two years, the College has raised more than $4,000. A fantastic effort by everyone.
