The year’s end is fast approaching and the Senior School Team will very soon be organising counselling sessions for 2021 course selections. Part of those course selections will of course include VCAL counselling and VET Subject selections. The VCAL program is an exciting hands on program that combines School, Industry study and Work Experience. Students will have the opportunity to choose a pathway into their desired industry and the good thing is they can start this while they are at school.  The VCAL is a senior secondary certificate and in many ways very similar to the VCE. At Al-Taqwa College, VCAL is delivered at the ‘Intermediate and Senior’ Level, which is equivalent to year 11 and year 12.

Career Pathways

Students who enrol into the VCAL will have a common timetable designed to cater for the pathway they wish to pursue. Their week will consist of 3 days of school delivered at Al Taqwa College, 1 day of ‘Structured Workplace Learning’ and 1 day of ‘Industry Training’, known as there VET subject. All students develop individual learning plans and are able to explore pathways into higher education. Most of all, they gain the relevant work experience and qualifications they need to start off in the ‘Real-World’. Below are just some of the Industries that students may study or train in. All of these courses are delivered through the VET cluster, which is a partnership formed with approximately 15 school and all close proximity to Al Taqwa College.
